Almost Forgot about this one

Almost forgot about this photo we took in Cincinnatti after the final show with the Lovely Feathers. We were quite the team.

We are off to Rotterdam tomorrow, so check in soon for a bunch of new updates as the next three weeks will undoubtedly fill up a few journal posts. Enjoy the long weekend.

the skinny on the dr. dog debachle

Remember a few posts ago how we were mentioning the fact that we were currently a part of one of the best bills we could fathom? well, that bill took a disastrous turn when the Dr. Dog van broke down on the way from Atlanta to Nashville. There are two theories currently being researched as to what happened.

1. During the drive from Atlanta to Nashville the 6 members of Dr. Dog (Scott, Tobe, Frank, Justin, Zach and Joe) drive past Manchester Tennessee. In Manchester at this time, there seems to be a lot of young people waving their arms in the air pretending to be waterfalls. Joe tells Justin (who is driving) to pull over. The other members try to convince Joe that they need to make it to Nashville in time for sound check and Baja Burritos, but Joe is not listening. Justin pulls over after Joe promises he will only be 10 minutes. A nice man approaches the Dr. Dog van as they wait for Joe to get back. It is a blistering day, and all the guys are real hot. The nice man offers each member a glass of Kool-aid. After drinking multiple glasses of this man's kool-aid, dr. dog slowly wander off into the masses of youthful-waterfall-dancing people. Soon Dr. Dog is calling to cancel their Nashville show in order to make home-made pants out of courdoroy and grateful dead patches. Then, they must cancel Chicago in order to find a tent that has blown away somewhere. Then, they must cancel a couple more shows in order to help life-guard a mudslide that caused Zach to skin his knee pretty bad. Joe is never seen again.

2. Dr. Dog takes their van into a mechanic early one morning before making the drive to Nashville. they had been having over-heating issues since the tour began. The mechanic takes a look and tells them it could be fixed by the afternoon. However, being a mechanic, time works differently. By saying "afternoon" he meant "the next 4 days." Dr. Dog is forced to sit on the sideline, due to van issues (which we all know can be incredibly frustrating), and cancel a bunch of shows with the spinto band and lovely feathers.

We aren't sure which theory is true, but we will let you know. A funny little side note to this story: after we heard of the Dr. Dog van issues as well as a story regarding friends in the band Gym Class heroes who recently crashed their van, Sam started having nightmares about falling asleep at the wheel and he would doze off in the van, then 5 minutes later jump up. He is better now though. thank goodness.

Ok, that being said, there is another reason for this post... We threw a bunch of videos from this tour up on youtube. So if you like watching live shows on computer screens, visit this link.

found another unicorn picture:

in many ways the best unicorn picture because its a small stencil on the outside of the club in the corner of a blacked-out window. drunken unicorn, never stop making beautiful unicorn art.

The Drunken Unicorn

So here we are in Atlanta at a club called the Drunken Unicorn. We love the title, and better yet, we love the amazing unicorn art surrounding us on the walls. Check it out.

I call this mural "the lord of thunder"

These unicorns protect the sound booth.

The sun sets on the drunken unicorn, however, the rock carries on.

By far the best mural in the venue. Whole art seminars could be held for this one mural. Do not overlook the mullets on both the wise wizard or the majestic unicorn. The rainbow flowing from the bottle in the wizard's hand and slicing through the corvette, and setting it on fire, undoubtedly holds some multi-layered meaning. I think it has to do with unity or friendship, i'm not sure though.

We taped a thing for the internet

Well, Ned in Chapel Hill was nice enough to put us up in his lovely home and order pizza for us (we aren't that good at ordering food) and let us watch the scariest x files episode of all.

the only condition is we had to tape an episode for his web radio show. It should be up in July, and i'll let everyone know when it goes up, but check out his site, as there is a great backlog of old shows.

what is a meem?

Man, Chris Cain is pretty funny. I just laughed out loud watching his 4 favorite things about being in a rock band.

a bill for the ages

Well everyone. Let's just jump right into this, because it has been a while since we updated this little wang-dangle and a lot needs to be said.

Firstly: How about this bill we are currently on? Dr. Dog and The Lovely Feathers. Simply amazing. These bands are travelling with us and working vigilantly towards a simple goal: to rock your socks off. We have a current count of 369,477 socks rocked off and that is only half way through the tour. The world record for 1 tour's worth or socks rocked off is 1,229,002. I think we can beat it. Especially if we can convince the feathers to put these on again. The bands are all really fightin' the good fight and it is showing. Last night in DC I saw people carrying in extra socks .

Tonite we are playing some top secret shite. Tom and Sam and Nick's high school alma mater has asked the spinto band to perform at their after-prom party. At first, we were a bit tentative, but when we heard they were going to have a miniature golf course and pizza in the building, how could we say no? If I remember correctly, high schools really go all out to keep kids from drinking and fornicating after the prom. Little do they know what the spinto band plans on doing to these post-prom pupils. now everyone get your minds out of the gutter.

Moving on, Matt Esolda just shot a video for Trust v. Mistrust the other day. Word from the front said it went extremely well as they had 4 different kinds of rice krispie treats. We hope to see it in all its Rube Goldberg splendor soon.

besides that, we just chillin.
