Stolen Mandolin

Dear friends,

Tonight we experienced a tragic loss. During this evening’s performance at Manchester Academy 3 (08/23/06), somebody stole our Mandolin from the stage.
This instrument has little monetary worth, but provides a wealth of sentimental value to us. It is a Kay electric mandolin with a wood sunburst finish, white pickgaurd, and a crack in the headstock.
We are prepared to offer healthy reward upon its return. In addition, if the Mandolin is received before we play Reading / Leeds, the person who delivers it will be offered tickets to those events.
This is truly a sad day for the Spinto Band. If you have any information regarding its whereabouts or wish to express your sympathy, please contact us.

Yours sincerely,
The Spinto Band.

dame vs. jabroni

we were all having a little talk here in the dressing room...

is it worse to call a gal:
1- a dame
2- a broad

is it worse to call a fella:
1- a candy ass
2- a jabroni

also, what is the plural of jabroni?

Baby Nerd video

So with my recent addiction to YouTube, I dug around a little in the spinto video vault and found this gem. We recorded this vid sometime around 1998 to an Albert Birney classic, Baby Nerd pt. 1. This song was also used a little while ago in a video-podcast for some NYC filmmakers, so it is probably the most happening spinto song on the internet right now.

a contest

Home slices from Gigwise.com put this little contest together for spinto band fans. You may want to check it out if you live in the UK and aren't too busy in August.

a few videos starring Jeff Hobson

while in Japan a few great events took place, 2 of which were captured on video. Check them out.

1. Jeff was offered the roll of drummer #4 in the Franz Ferdinand set. Check him out squeezed between who I believe are one of the Wolfmother dudes and the Zutons dude. Jeff said he kept trying to play his neighbors' drums, but they gave him sour looks. You can't really tell but there are about 150,000 Japanese people watching in front of the stage. It was fun. I watched off the left side of the stage near the bass player. He looked like he was disinterested the whole time, but in a cool way.

2. Another blast while in Japan was dumping. Why? because the toilets had more buttons than an Xbox. I had never experienced an interactive toilet, and man was it a wild ride.
